What is EVE?

The Embedded Video Engine (EVE) is a versatile graphics controller that connects to your microcontroller (MCU) via SPI (or Quad SPI), enabling the addition of a vibrant graphical touch screen to your design. EVE is perfect for modernizing older designs and creating user-friendly interfaces for new projects.

The EVE IC is designed with the following:

Graphics: Enhance your product's interface with a color display.
Touch: Implement intuitive touch screen control. (Resistive & Capacitive Models Available)
Audio: Play various audio tones with minimal MCU effort.

Software Tools and Examples

We have a wide range of software tools and examples to help you get started with EVE. You may prefer to write code in a language such as C or Circuit Python, or to use our graphical tools to develop your code, or a mixture of both.

The EVE Family

The use of colour graphical touch screens has evolved over the years, and so has EVE! Our 4th Generation EVE (BT817, BT818 and BT817A) have even more features based on evolving market trends (such as larger screens and more complex on-screen user-interfaces) and feedback from our customers. However our earlier generations are ideal for a wide range of applications especially smaller screens and cost sensitive applications.

EVE Generations

Our EVE product line includes multiple generations, each offering unique features and enhancements:

First Generation (FT800/1) – Easily add a display with touch and audio functionality to any MCU
Second Generation (FT810/1/2/3, BT880/1/2/3) - Supporting larger displays (FT81x) and screen rotation for portrait displays
Third Generation (BT815/6) - Adding features such as Unicode fonts, ASTC Inage format support, and directly attached NOR Flash to reduce MCU storage required
Fourth Generation (BT817/8) - Adding features such as larger screen support, non-square pixel support and AEC-Q100 Automotive Qualification (BT817A)
Fifth Generation COMING SOON! Our latest EVE device with frame buffer for complex graphics rendering, video input, NOR/NAND/SD card storage for even more sophisticated HMI designs
